Call for zero tolerance on bootleg alcohol
+++ +++ +++ +++
"Robberies, protection, local 'mafia'"

There’s been a swift reaction to last night’s events from Boston’s English Democrat councillors.
Group leader Councillor David Owens has written to all councillors to say:

In the light of the tragic events earlier this evening, and the early reports of the cause, I do hope that members of all persuasions will look at ALL licensing challenges this town is currently faced with and take very firm action against ANY licensee who breaches the conditions of their licence.
Tip-toeing around matters relating to bootlegged liquor only keeps this illegal industry going, and all members of this council should insist on a ZERO TOLERANCE approach to dealing with offenders.
Time to get a backbone and use the power delegated to us for the protection of the law abiding citizens of this town.
No apologies if my comment causes offence!!

He told Boston Eye: “My simple message to members of this town’s council,  is that people have died tonight and the time for prancing and pontificating is well and truly over!”
His council colleague Elliott Fountain added:

Once again we make the headlines due to our eastern European friends,
I think that one or two dead bodies have been found this week as well, maybe connected to this vodka
There are two licensing meetings at  the council on 18th July for selling illegal vodka   - one  foreign shop on the  bridge has closed down already because of selling illegal vodka and cigarettes;  there is only one foreign trading business shop owner in Boston that trades legally, all the rest are fronts for bootleg vodka, beer and cigarettes.
This a fact in Boston. This vodka is available down most streets in Boston from households, Haven Meadows, Castle Street, London Road, Tunnard Street - one man sells £1,000's a day.
Some foreign lads have stopped working on the land because the money is so good.
There are robberies going on, protection money from their mafias - yes all here in little Boston.
